Name: Ian Walker
Age: 24
From: Stoke-on-Trent
A bit about me: Ian has been into dance music in one form or another for around 14 years now starting at the tender age of 10 when he was introduced to The Prodigy’s ‘Music For The Jilted Generation’. From there he went to grow a love for the house scene from the mid 90’s, which in turn brought him to the trance revolution from the latter part of the 90’s. Tunes such as Chicane - Offshore, Greece 2000 - Three Drives and Gouryella’s Gouryella setting the tone for things to come.
Once old enough, Ian ventured into the scene he’d grown to love properly, becoming a regular visitor to local night Golden at the The Void in Hanley. Seeing DJ’s such as Pete Bromley, Tiesto, Judge Jules, Armin Van Buuren and Signum to name but a few. Big events were also a regular sight with trips to the NEC events by Gatecrasher, Summer Sound System and Creamfields.
After wanting to DJ from the age of around 13, Ian eventually got his hands on his first set of decks at 17 years of age. Learning his skills over a number of years he’s developed a talent for creating sets that flow effortlessly and the tracks seem to just ‘fit’ together. Preffering to create a smooth and seamless set he tends to play anything from the slower, more progressive side of trance, and will move through the range to more uplifting, vocal and even slightly techier edged trance tracks.
Ian feels there still a hell of alot to learn about his craft and the scene, but that’s the fun of it!
